🌳🌴🌲 Let's talk about tree and tree roots 🌳🌴🌲

We all know a beautifully landscaped yard make a huge difference. Strategically placed trees can save you energy costs in the summer and winter, provide privacy, and add value to your home 🏑🌞

On the flip side,

Trees can cause the moisture in soil to fluctuate because of the water that is required to keep a tree alive. This can cause significant problems when the soil contracts and expands, which over time could put pressure on your foundation and cause cracks or shifting.

Tree roots can quickly grow thru small cracks and holes in the drainage lines. When tree roots grow inside the drainage lines, it is clogging the drainage system, and water became stagnant in the drainage lines, that will eventually burst or create leak.

Water always flows to path with least resistance, and in most cases, water will flow to house's foundation/basement/crawlspace.

We highly recommend a routine drainage maintenance and inspection for your home.

Clean Drainage & Sumps – Keep Your Basement Dry!πŸ‘

Hydro Jetting is the most effective method of removing clogging drainage lines.

Hydro Jetting clears clogged caused by tree roots, rocks, or accumulation of household grease, hair, paper products using high-pressure water.

Hydro Jetting allows us to do Hydro Vacuum/excavation in tight space areas such as area underneath staircase, area between two houses where an excavator is too big to come in and the only viable option is to dig it by hand.

Using Hydro vacuum to excavate will save homeowner time and money πŸ’²πŸ’² and it will save my sore back πŸ˜€

In a finished basement, it could be tricky to find the source of a water leak, the wall crack may be covered behind the drywall.

πŸ“ŒTroubleshoot with following stepsπŸ“Œ

1. Look at your ceiling and see if the water coming from the top or from behind the wall.

2. Look at any leaky pipe around the room.

3. Look for leaky spot, identify if leak coming from one spot or multiple spots to pin point the issue.

4. Check outside the house and look for any wall crack around the leaky area.

5. If there is no visible wall crack outside can be found, then the last step is to open up the drywall, remove the insulation, and look for any wall crack behind the drywall.

Common causes of a Wet Basement:
1. Groundwater penetrating through foundation cracks or window wells
2. Plugged gutter system
3. Failed tile system
4. Not enough gutters
5. Poor grading of land near the house. Water should flow away from the house and not toward it.
6. Condensation from pipes. In areas of high humidity pipes can form condensation and drip. This is not uncommon from air conditioner units without release valves.

Possible Solutions:
1. Make sure all of your downspouts are connected and directed
properly.
2. Attach extensions to downspouts if needed to channel water away from the house
3. Clean out gutters
4. Regrade the landscaping is necessary to slope away from the house
5. Install a dehumidifier
6. Install drain tile
7. Install a sump pump
8. Install a French drain
9. Install a floor drain
10. Waterproofing

Sometimes the need for a basement leak repair sneaks up on you when you least expect it. This is usually after a heavy rain or a period of extended rain.

The soil around your house has become saturated and the hydrostatic pressure is forcing water through a basement crack causing that need for a Basement Leak Repair.

If your foundation has cracks it is possible the hydrostatic pressure is pushing the water into your now leaky basement and this could cause that moldy, damp smell.

If you think this is the nature of the problem it is best to contact Phil Russell and have him find the true source of the leak problem.
