Black & McDonald’s 28th Annual National Hockey Tournament Raises Over $30,000 for Local Hospices

Collingwood & Wasaga Beach, ON — April 24–25, 2026 — Black & McDonald and Canadian Base Operators (CBO) are proud to announce the successful conclusion of the 28th Annual National Hockey Tournament, held in Collingwood and Wasaga Beach. The B&M Toronto Marlies emerged as tournament champions following an exciting weekend of competition that brought together 14 teams from across Canada for three days of hockey, camaraderie, and connection.

Hosted by Canadian Base Operators, the annual tournament continues to be a cornerstone event that strengthens relationships across regions while creating a meaningful impact beyond the ice. This year’s event raised $15,080 through silent auctions and 50/50 raffles, with all proceeds supporting Campbell House Hospice (Collingwood) and Chapman House – Grey Bruce Hospice, two organizations providing essential, no-cost palliative care services to local families.

In keeping with its longstanding commitment to community support, Black & McDonald proudly matched the funds raised by participants, bringing the total donated to $30,160.

Congratulations to the Toronto Marlies, champions of Black & McDonald’s 28th Annual National Hockey Tournament!

This past weekend, Canadian Base Operators (CBO) hosted 14 teams from across Canada for an incredible weekend of competition, camaraderie, and team building. Beyond the ice, the event was a powerful display of community spirit. Together, we raised $15,080 in support of Campbell House Hospice (Collingwood) and Chapman House – Grey Bruce Hospice, both of which provide vital, no-cost palliative care to local families.

In keeping with our annual tradition, Black & McDonald has pledged to match the funds raised by our generous participants. A sincere thank you to our dedicated volunteers—and to the CBO team—for the honor of hosting everyone in Collingwood and Wasaga Beach.

National Day of Mourning

Pause. Reflect. Remember. Renew.

Today, Tuesday, April 28, we observe the National Day of Mourning—a day to honour those who have lost their lives, been injured, or become ill due to workplace incidents.

It’s a moment to reflect, but also a time to take action—to renew our shared commitment to building safer, healthier workplaces.

At CBO, our safety focus this year is “Take 5”:

• Hydration
• Nutrition
• Inspections
• Stretch & Flex
• Hazard Recognition

These five simple actions support daily mindfulness around safety and wellbeing.
We all play a part in preventing workplace tragedies by:

• Supporting prevention programs developed with full worker participation
• Promoting awareness of health and safety rights and responsibilities
• Identifying and controlling job site hazards
• Ensuring proper training in hazard recognition and prevention
• Following procedures and policies
• Wearing required PPE
• Being fit for duty

Safety begins at work—but it continues at home and in our communities:

• Regularly assess your home for hazards
• Practice good housekeeping and fire prevention
• Be prepared for emergencies

Let’s honour those we’ve lost by protecting those around us—today and every day.

Proud to support our local community here in Moose Jaw.
Members of the CBO team from our NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC) site at 15 Wing Moose Jaw recently attended the 33rd Annual Moose Jaw Kinsmen Sports Celebrity Dinner, an event that raises funds to support children’s sports programs and community initiatives across the region.
This year’s event featured sports legends Chris Chelios, Kevin Pillar, and Trevor Harris, along with silent and live auctions, great food, and an evening dedicated to giving back. CBO was pleased to sponsor a table in support of this longstanding community tradition and to spend time together outside the workplace while contributing to a great cause.

Supporting local initiatives that strengthen our communities is something we value, and we’re proud to be part of events that make a meaningful impact right where we live and work.
