It’s that time of year again where living in the North doesn’t seem so great, when temperatures hit below -40. But hey now, keep your hopes up! This is a good time to take a look at where you are losing precious heat in your home. Over the years I’ve seen countless cases where insulation was done improperly which leaves a cavity for cold air to enter the house. Taking the necessary steps to properly insulate a wall is not only easy but makes your home much more efficient in winter as well as summer. So on our next cold day, take a look around the house and check for frost build up in wall corners and electrical plugs, also, keep an eye on your eavestroughs if an abundance of ice is building up in one location there is heat loss. I’ll attach pictures of my home/Reno project that’s been renovated in the past 30-40 years and is a perfect example of what you don’t want to see behind your walls.
