We were recently called out to a home where the HRV system had stopped working properly—and unfortunately, it led to a serious mold issue. Because of this, the homeowner now has to replace sections of their ceiling and drywall.
After servicing the HRV, we also recommended and installed a bathroom fan to help ensure proper moisture removal moving forward and prevent this from happening again.

After another busy week of service calls, it’s a good reminder how many of these issues could have been avoided with a simple electrical check.
This week we found a burnt-out circuit breaker that had failed because the wrong style/type of breaker had been installed. It’s something most homeowners would never spot — but it’s the kind of issue that can lead to serious damage if left unnoticed.
Loose connections, overloaded circuits, ageing wiring or incorrect components often go under the radar until they turn into a bigger (and more expensive) problem.

Another bathroom renovation complete!

Service Call Spotlight & Safety Reminder
This week, one of our service calls involved a baseboard heater that wasn’t producing heat. Upon inspection, we discovered the back of the thermostat had melted and nearly caught fire, with burn marks visible inside the electrical box.
The home was equipped with a Federal Pioneer Stab-Lok electrical panel, which is known for circuit breakers that may fail to trip during electrical faults.
If your home has a Federal Pioneer Stab-Lok panel (like the one in the image) we strongly recommend a professional inspection to ensure the breakers are functioning properly. Electrical safety is critical — early detection can prevent serious hazards.
