Steel Building Project Spotlight | Calgary Precast, Alberta

Mettle Industrial Services is proud to be part of this 6,500 sq. ft. steel building project for Calgary Precast concrete, designed to support their concrete production operations.

🔩 Featuring a CSD Steel buildings, the structure includes a steel framework, screw-down roof system, and large overhead doors to accommodate equipment, materials, and day-to-day operations.

⏱️ With approximately 60 days dedicated to the building installation, this project is another example of steel construction designed around the practical needs of industrial operations.

Stamped Er****on & Bracing Plans | Safety Starts Before the Steel Goes Up 🏗️🦺

One of the biggest issues we see in the metal building industry from the erector side is the difference between proper steel er****on and simply putting a building in the air.

There are companies out there “cowboying” metal buildings together without the proper planning, safety procedures, quality control, or qualified tradespeople on site. That’s not a risk we’re willing to take. 🚫

At Mettle Industrial Services, we believe every project should start with the right documentation and the right people. That means working from stamped er****on and bracing plans, following engineered requirements, and having qualified, ticketed ironworkers on site who understand what it takes to safely erect a steel building. 📐👷‍♂️

Proper bracing, sequencing, connections, fall protection, equipment, and site safety all matter. These aren’t steps to skip or areas to cut corners. The building needs to be safe while it’s going up — not just when it’s finished.

We encourage building owners, general contractors, and project managers to ask questions before choosing an erector:

✅ Are the er****on and bracing plans properly stamped?
✅ Are qualified, ticketed ironworkers on site?
✅ Does the company have a proper safety program?
✅ Is there a clear er****on sequence and quality-control process?
✅ Does the erector have the experience and equipment to do the job properly?

Steel er****on is skilled work. It should be treated that way.

Steel Er****on & Metal Building Construction | Alberta Project Update

We’re out on site just outside Calgary, Alberta, where the team at Mettle Industrial Services is making progress on an exciting metal building and steel er****on project for G Square Readymix.

This project includes two industrial metal buildings, each designed for a specific purpose.

🏭 One building is being constructed for a concrete mixing plant, supporting G Square Readymix’s operations.

🧱 The second building is being built for precast concrete manufacturing, where they’ll be producing concrete steps, blocks, and other precast products.

Projects like this are a great example of how steel buildings and pre-engineered metal buildings can be designed around the specific needs of an operation.

We’ll be heading inside the precast building next to take a closer look at what they’re manufacturing and how the building is designed to support their day-to-day work. 👀

We’re seeing this happen all across the country. At Mettle Industrial Services, we receive calls from people who have purchased metal buildings, only to discover that the building they bought may not even be suitable for their location or meet the requirements needed to be erected.

Unfortunately, not every deal is what it seems. 🚧 From misleading sales claims to incomplete building packages and questionable suppliers, buyers need to know what they’re getting into before spending their hard-earned money.

🔎 Here are a few things to look out for before purchasing a metal building:

✅ Verify the supplier. Research the company, check references, and confirm their track record before signing anything.

📋 Confirm your building meets local requirements. Building codes, engineering, snow loads, wind loads, and permit requirements can vary depending on where your project is located.

🏗️ Review the engineering. Make sure the building is properly engineered for your specific site and intended use. A building designed for one region may not be suitable for another.

📦 Know exactly what you're buying. Confirm what is included in the package, from structural components and connection details to drawings and engineering documents.

💰 Be cautious of deals that sound too good to be true. Verify the seller, payment terms, delivery arrangements, and documentation before committing your money.

We had the opportunity to build a 100' x 70' industrial shop for Calgary Precast, designed to support their concrete mixing and production operations. 🏭🧱

From steel er****on to bringing the structure together, every part of the build requires precision, coordination, safety, and experience. Our team takes pride in delivering industrial structures built to handle the demands of the work happening inside them. 👷‍♂️🔩
