When wildfire smoke impacts air quality, we’re constantly monitoring conditions to help keep our crews safe on the job.
Here’s what we do:
✔️ Monitor the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) throughout the workday.
✔️ Reassess work and postpone tasks if conditions worsen from Yellow to Orange or Red.
✔️ Keep our supervisors and crews informed of any changes.
✔️ Schedule more frequent breaks in cleaner indoor or enclosed areas.
✔️ Adjust the pace of work to reduce smoke exposure.
✔️ Ensure our supervisors are trained to recognize the signs of smoke exposure, including persistent coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness, dizziness, headaches, and eye or throat irritation.
If a team member experiences significant symptoms, they’re immediately moved to cleaner air and assessed before returning to work.
Our commitment to safety doesn’t change with the weather. It’s built into every job, every day.
