We are currently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Arborist Assistant to join our team. We are looking for candidates who are eager to learn and ready to settle in Southern Alberta for a stable career.

The Opportunity: We are looking for a hardworking individual who takes pride in their work and has a mechanical mindset. As an Arborist Assistant, you will support our Certified Arborists on the ground, ensuring operations run smoothly and safely. This role requires a sharp eye for detail and a commitment to keeping our equipment in peak condition.

Key Responsibilities:

* Ground Operations: Assist the crew with but not limited to rigging, clean-up, and the safe operation of the wood chipper during tree removal and pruning projects.

* Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to oil changes and greasing of heavy equipment, to ensure reliability.

* Saw Maintenance: Responsible for maintaining chainsaws, including but not limited to regular cleaning and keeping chains sharp and ready for use.

* Customer Service: Act as a friendly and professional point of contact for clients on-site, answering basic questions and ensuring their property is treated with respect.

* Safety & Teamwork: Work closely with the team to maintain a safe job site, strictly following safety protocols and communicating effectively with crew members.

Qualifications:

* Attention to Detail: Must possess extreme attention to detail, particularly when inspecting equipment and cleaning up job sites.

* Mechanical Skills: Ability to perform essential maintenance tasks (oil changes, greasing) is required. Experience sharpening chainsaws is highly preferred.

* Customer Focus: Excellent customer service skills and a professional demeanor are essential.

* Team Player: Ability to work well in a team environment, following instructions closely and supporting crew members.

* Work Ethic: Reliable, punctual, and physically capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions.

* Successful candidate must have a class 5 drivers license with Airbrakes endorsement (or willing to obtain airbrakes)

I'm not very good at sharing what our teams stay busy doing.

Here's a small example of what our tree division does to keep busy during the winter months while the trees are dormant.

Pruning of live wood during the winter helps promote regrowth throughout the summer.

Looking for a great outdoor job this summer? Bronson Enterprises LTD is hiring a Part-Time Lawn Care Assistant to help maintain commercial properties in the Claresholm area.

In this role, your primary focus will be string trimming to give our properties a clean, finished look. You will also be operating a variety of commercial mowers and turf maintenance equipment. This is a great fit for someone who enjoys working outside, knows their way around landscaping equipment, and takes pride in a job well done.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Perform extensive string trimming (whipper-snipping) around obstacles, edges, and tight spaces on commercial sites.
* Safely operate and maintain commercial lawn mowers, blowers, and other turf maintenance equipment.
* Assist the grounds crew with general turf maintenance and landscaping duties as needed.
* Follow all workplace safety guidelines and ensure equipment is properly cleaned and stored.

REQUIREMENTS:
* Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (Required).
* Prior experience and knowledge of how to safely operate commercial lawn care equipment.
* Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
* Physical stamina for standing, walking, and operating equipment for extended periods.
* Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.

Well we finally got a little bit of snow.

During our route this morning, the sky opened up and I just had this stop and take a picture.

Loving the sun, but keeping an eye on the trees.

​It feels amazing outside right now, but this warm snap does make things a little tricky for our trees.

​When trees are fully dormant, they are incredibly tough and can handle almost any temperature. But warm weather signals them to wake up, bringing water and sap up into the branches. Essentially, they drop their winter defenses to get ready for spring.

​If the temperature swings back down to extreme lows (-30°C or colder) while that moisture is in the branches, the freezing and expanding can cause "frost cracks" or "branch die back"in the trunk or damage the buds.

​We aren't worried yet, just watchful. If we do get another deep freeze, don't panic. We’ll be here in the spring to check on any trees that might need a little extra care.
