Environmental protection doesn’t end when the mats leave a job site.

NMB’s Matador mat washing system helps clean and disinfect access mats between projects, reducing the risk of transporting soil, vegetation, and other material from one location to another.

The system also recycles water throughout the cleaning process, helping reduce overall water consumption while preparing mats for their next project.

It’s another part of managing access responsibly from one site to the next.

Before a mine can be developed, crews need a reliable way to get there.

Mining and exploration projects often take place in remote areas where soft ground, wetlands, steep terrain, and limited infrastructure can make access one of the first major challenges.

Sometimes the route forward requires more than mats.

We provide portable and modular bridge solutions that help crews and equipment safely cross watercourses, wetlands, drainage channels, and other obstacles that would otherwise limit site access.

From transportation and installation to inspections and ongoing support, our team can manage the bridge solution throughout the life of the project.

When the terrain creates a gap, we help build the way across.

We like to think that a safe job site starts long before the first piece of equipment begins moving. Planning the access route, understanding site conditions, inspecting equipment, identifying hazards, and making sure crews have the right training all play a role in setting a project up for success.

At Northern Mat & Bridge, safety is built into how we plan, mobilize, install, and manage our access solutions from start to finish. Preparation matters because the goal is always the same: getting the work done safely and making sure everyone goes home at the end of the day.

Fall can change a worksite quickly.

More frequent rain, cooler temperatures, and softer ground can turn previously reliable routes into difficult terrain for crews and heavy equipment.

Temporary access roads and work pads provide a stable surface through changing conditions. They help reduce rutting, protect the ground below, and keep equipment moving safely as the season progresses.

Planning access before conditions deteriorate can help prevent delays later in the project.

We always like to say safe access starts with a clear plan.

On active sites, creating a stable route is only part of the job. Access also needs to support safe movement, clear work zones, and separation between crews, equipment, and surrounding areas.

Northern Mat & Bridge access mats help create defined, reliable pathways through challenging or sensitive terrain, while thoughtful site setup helps keep work organized and conditions manageable from start to finish.

It’s all part of building access that supports the work, the people doing it, and the environment around it.

On Saturday, Northern Mat & Bridge was honoured to be part of the Edmonton Elks Orange Shirt Day Game.

Together with the Edmonton Elks Football Club, Exchange Income Corporation, Canadian North Airlines, Carson Air, Westower Communications, and Hotsy Water Blast, we were able to help bring more than 250 Indigenous guests to Edmonton from communities across British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut to experience the game and spend the day together.

We’re grateful to everyone who helped make the day possible, and especially to the communities and guests who joined us.

For NMB, support for Truth and Reconciliation goes beyond a single event. We remain committed to listening, learning, strengthening relationships, and carrying those lessons forward in the way we work every day.
