Jakes Construction is looking for Construction Labourers to join our civil construction team!

This is a hands-on role suited for someone who is reliable, physically able, and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions. The successful candidate will support our crews with general site labour, material handling, and other tasks on active civil construction projects.

We’re looking for:
• Someone who is reliable, safety-conscious, and ready for hands-on work
• A willingness to learn, take direction, and work as part of a crew
• Ability to meet the physical demands of civil construction work
• A valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation

Throwback Thursday 🚧

Taking a look back at work on Nicomen Island, where protecting the surrounding environment was just as important as strengthening the d**e itself.

Crews were working through challenging ground conditions and environmental requirements while improving flood protection infrastructure for the area.

The work was careful, measured and very site-specific - all with the bigger picture in mind: protecting the surrounding community and landscape for years to come.

⛳️ 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗞𝗹𝗮𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗳 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀! ⛳️

We had an incredible turnout, perfect weather, fun games, a little friendly competition, and plenty of laughs from the first tee to the final putt.

Whether it was chasing the longest drive, sinking a clutch putt, or taking on one of the many challenges around the course, there was no shortage of memorable moments. And let's just say... one of the water hazards got a little more attention than it usually does. 🛶

A huge congratulations to all of our tournament winners, and thank you to everyone who came out and made another great tournament possible. Days like these are a great reminder of the team and culture we've built together.

There’s often more involved in road rehabilitation than what’s visible once the work is done. 🪨

From earthworks and large riprap placement to culvert installations and roadway reconstruction, this type of work focuses on stabilizing the corridor and rebuilding key components that support long-term use. Projects like this require coordination across multiple crews and disciplines, often in constrained environments.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Work is well underway on the preload on the site of the future South of Fraser Maintenance and Storage Facility.

To date, efforts have focused on ground preparation and improvement across challenging conditions, including peat excavation, preload placement, wick drain installation and ongoing settlement monitoring.

With significant volumes of material moved, crews on site continue to put in a strong effort as work progresses through this phase of the project.

Culvert replacement helps keep water moving and infrastructure working the way it should.

At Cooper’s Corner on Highway 1, crews are installing a new culvert to improve drainage and long-term reliability. Working in an active corridor takes planning, coordination, and time to do it properly.

It’s steady work, but it plays an important role in keeping things moving.
