It helps retain water and provide the extra nutrients needed especially in areas with rocky soil like Prince Edward County. Along with a quality seed mix, water at least twice a week. Some make the mistake of over watering which can cause moss and higher w**d growth. A good test is if you can put a screw driver in and it slides in with ease, you’re at a good moisture level. Lastly I recommend over seeding every 2 weeks, the thicker the lawn the less opportunity for w**d growth.
