With increasing cases of Oak Wilt being reported in Ontario, this is a friendly reminder to avoid performing any tree work on Oak trees until the fall/winter to reduce the risk of it spreading.

The Nitidulid Beetles that carry this fungus are attracted to open wounds on healthy oaks. It can attract and transmit the fungus in as little as 15 minutes!

Please report any signs or symptoms immediately.

Get ready for a swing! In order to avoid potential impact on the structures below, we performed a technique called speed line rigging. This technique is set up like a zip line to send the branches out into the yard, instead of directly below the tree. A useful method when we are in hard to reach locations!

It was a tree planting day for us at Precision Tree Care. Here are some tips for planting your trees this spring:

1. Planting depth is very important. Too deep and the roots will not be able to get the oxygen they need. Too shallow and the roots will not have enough soil space to grow horizontally. The ideal planting location is at the depth of the trunk flare.

2. Planting width should be 2-3 times the total width of the root ball

3. Adding mulch after planting provides many benefits including moisture retention and insulation

Happy planting season! 🍃 🌳

Oak Wilt has unfortunately made it to Canada. Look for any signs and report any cases! Refrain from pruning any oaks until the fall to reduce the spread. Let’s keep our Oak trees healthy! 🌳

We have confirmed oak wilt in a residential area in Niagara Falls, Ontario. This is the first confirmed case in Canada.

If you live in the area, check your oak trees regularly for signs of oak wilt, which include dull green, brown or yellow leaves; cracks in the trunk; white, grey or black fungus; and early and sudden leaf drop.

Oak wilt is spread naturally through the root or by beetles carrying fungal spores.

Report all signs of oak wilt to us immediately: https://bit.ly/3J7VSua

A new year bringing new credentials! This fall Darin had the pleasure of attending the ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification course.

What does this mean for our customers? We can now offer detailed tree assessments that can be held to the highest standard in a court of law 🕵️‍♂️. But more importantly, we can better help our clients break down the risk categorization within their tree, giving proper mitigation options to reduce its risk.

We will be using the data sheet produced by the International Society of Arboriculture and it’s matrix, to help compartmentalize the information we gather from your tree, to get its overall risk rating.

We look forward to continue to provide our customers with the best quality service.

Call 226-627-1569 if you’re interested in getting a tree assessment🌳
