The last few years have seen a dramatic change in contractors in Chatham-Kent. We've seen them come and go, but we're thriving! We've also heard a lot of stories from clients being burnt by shady businesses that take the money and run. It is always in your best interest to get a formal contract in writing and to do your diligence in researching the contractor that you are hoping to work with. We still get asked if "cash will make it cheaper". This implies that the work will be done 'off the books' and the client won't have to pay the HST. Please stop. If your contractor will work for cash, he is most likely going to leave you with unfinished work that is sub-par at best. You are putting yourself in a vulnerable position.
