Another project wrapped up! 🔨

I recently completed this 12’ x 16’ deck for a great customer in Mermaid and it’s ready for the next phase—being transformed into a mosquito-proof 3 seasons room which will happen some time in the future.

This build includes:
✔️ 2x10 framing for long-term strength
✔️ Pine tongue & groove half walls for a clean, finished look
✔️ Insect screening installed over the joists before the decking to help keep unwanted bugs out from below when the enclosure is completed
✔️ A 4’ x 10’ “bridge” connecting the new deck to the existing structure

Every project is different, and I’m always looking for ways to build something that’s durable and functional while suiting the individual needs of each customer I work for.

Big upgrades for McAskill Carpentry the past couple weeks!

My truck is now professionally lettered, making it even easier to spot on the road, and I also purchased a new aluminum deck-over trailer to help haul materials and equipment more efficiently. A huge thank you to FASTSIGNS for the clean, professional lettering and Martins Machine Shop for building me a trailer that will stand the test of time.

These investments mean I can continue showing up prepared, working efficiently, and delivering the quality my customers expect.

Another project in the books! 👊

Last week I wrapped up a beautiful 6x22’ front patio, giving this home a fresh new look and a welcoming entrance.

Over the past few days I’ve completed a few smaller jobs at a customers house in Charlottetown.

- New front landing and staircase
- Poured concrete walkway 6’x12’
- Back deck levelled and supported with screw piles from my friends at Xtreme Post PEI
- New stairs and railing at the back deck
- Sliding patio door replaced with custom garden door

This week’s project is a wrap!

My customer requested a 6’ tall fence, 150’ long down one side of their property. I built a shadow box style panel which allows the wind to cut through, while still providing a good level of privacy.

Spring has sprung here in PEI and it’s go time!!
