Meet another one of our incredible team members: Jonas 🔨

Jonas has been with HSS for just under a year and has already become an instrumental part of our team. A fully licensed carpenter from Germany, he brings a keen eye for detail, strong craftsmanship, and a real passion for sustainability to every project he works on.

Over the past months, Jonas has supported a wide range of projects and has led the team on our CLT project in Springbank, which is now nearing completion — an exciting milestone for everyone involved.

When he’s not on site, you’ll likely find him camping, off-roading, skiing, or fly fishing 🎣

We couldn’t feel luckier to have Jonas on the HSS team.

Meet Brock — our site supervisor leading the site crew on our research PEER projects in the Bow Valley.

Brock has been with HSS Design Build for over four years, where he has played a key role in many of our projects. Over the past year, his focus has been on delivering two projects in collaboration with SSRIA. Working closely with our research and design team, he helps bring Prefabricated Exterior Energy Retrofits to life with precision, care, and a strong focus on high-performance building details.

Drawn to the Bow Valley for its landscape and lifestyle, Brock brings that same appreciation for the environment into his work every day. His approach strengthens both the team and the outcomes we deliver.

Thank you, Brock, for your leadership, your teamwork, and your commitment to building sustainably from the ground up.

📊 For anyone interested in seeing real data from our research, we are sharing results collected from our first completed PEER retrofit project.

This data shows significant improvements in energy use based on the PEER (Prefabricated Exterior Energy Retrofit) approach. It is important to note that air sealing of the crawl space was not part of the work completed here and will be addressed by the owner. Once these components are completed, we expect further reductions in air leakage and additional performance improvements 🌡️🔥❄️

Sharing some progress photos from our second PEER project in collaboration with We love the siding and how beautifully it pairs with the timber- but beyond the aesthetics, this home deep energy retrofit aims to significantly reduce CO₂ emissions by cutting heat demand by about 70%, while providing a quiet, healthy space for its owners.

Stay tuned for final performance numbers once the project wraps up!
