🐾⚡ Animals of Bard: Meet Sinter Claws ⚡🐾

Sinter Claws — the newest addition to our client’s home 🐱

We had to stop working more than a few times for this one… and honestly, no regrets. Between the curiosity, the zoomies, and the constant “supervision,” Sinter made sure productivity took a slight hit 😄

The black and white photo was actually an accident… but it ended up being our favourite shot of the day. It fits perfectly too — Sinter’s got that natural smoky mix of grey, black, and white that just stands out.

Safe to say this little one is already running the house and keeping everyone in line.

⚡🔧 Future-Proofing While the Walls Are Open 🔧⚡

One thing we always try to do is minimize damage to finished spaces. Nobody wants unnecessary drywall cuts or extra patching if it can be avoided.

That said, some projects simply require opening up walls to get the job done safely and properly. When that happens, we like to look ahead and ask a simple question:

🤔 What can we do now to make future upgrades easier?

In this case, while the wall was already open, we asked the homeowner if they would like us to install a conduit from the electrical panel down into the crawlspace.

✅ Provides an easy route for future circuits
✅ Reduces the likelihood of opening up finished walls again
✅ Saves time, mess, and money on future upgrades

A little planning today can save a lot of drywall dust tomorrow.

Whether you're thinking about an EV charger, hot tub, heat pump, workshop circuit, or future renovation, we're always looking for ways to make those future projects easier.

🏡🔌 Selling Your Home? Don’t Let the Little Things Hold Up the Deal

When a home is getting ready to hit the market, it's often the small electrical items that can create questions during inspections, negotiations, or final walkthroughs.

From non-working outlets and missing GFCI protection to lighting issues, loose devices, or other electrical deficiencies, taking care of those items ahead of time can help make the selling process smoother for everyone involved.

This one had us out helping get things buttoned up so the homeowners could focus on the move ahead instead of worrying about electrical punch-list items.

Whether you're selling your home, buying a new one, or just trying to get ahead of an inspection, we're happy to help figure it out and make a plan.

💡✨ Modern Lighting Upgrade ✨💡

Swapped out these older tube lights for new modern LED fixtures from RAB Design Lighting and the difference was instantly noticeable.

The old fixtures had a much harsher glow to them, while the new LEDs softened the overall lighting but actually made both bedrooms feel brighter and more comfortable at the same time.

It’s one of those upgrades that’s hard to fully appreciate until you see the before and after side by side. Cleaner light, lower maintenance, better efficiency, and a much more updated look overall. 👌

Lighting plays a huge role in how a room feels, especially in bedrooms and living spaces where softer, more even light can completely change the atmosphere.

🐾⚡ Animals of Bard: Meet Sitka ⚡🐾

Sitka was holding down the jobsite supervisor position during our visit — calm, watchful, and making sure we stayed on task. 🐶

While some jobsite pets are bouncing off the walls looking for attention, Sitka had the kind of steady “I’ve seen it all before” energy that makes you feel instantly welcome. He kept a close eye on everything from the deck while we worked, only occasionally checking in to make sure the crew was behaving themselves.

And honestly… that face deserves extra treats for morale support alone. 🦴

We always love meeting the four-legged members of the household while out on jobs around Campbell River, Courtenay, and Comox. They make the workdays better every single time.

Got a pet that thinks they’re part of the renovation crew too? Share a photo or story in the comments — we love seeing everyone’s workday sidekicks!

🚽⚡ Bidet Power ⚡🚽

Definitely one of those calls we’ve been seeing more and more of lately. As bidets and smart toilets become more popular, so does the need for properly installed power nearby.

A lot of people are surprised to learn these installs typically require both AFCI and GFCI protection under current code rules, especially when adding new receptacles in finished bathrooms.

This one turned out nice and clean, giving the clients a safe and reliable power source ready for their new setup.

Sometimes it’s the smaller upgrades that end up being the biggest quality-of-life improvements once they’re installed. 😂

Thinking about adding a bidet, smart toilet, or other bathroom upgrade that needs power nearby? Give us a call at 778-561-4464 and we’ll help figure it out and make a plan.

⚡➕ Three New Circuits Added Smoothly ➕⚡

One thing that made this install go incredibly smoothly was the condition of the existing panel work.

Because the panel had been laid out cleanly and thoughtfully from the start, adding our three new circuits was quick, straightforward, and efficient. No digging through tangled conductors, no spending hours tracing wires, and no fighting for working space.

Everything was routed neatly, leaving proper room for future additions and making it easy to safely land the new breakers and wiring.

Good panel organization might not be something homeowners see every day, but it absolutely matters when it comes time for upgrades, troubleshooting, or expanding your electrical system later on. A clean install today can save a huge amount of labor tomorrow. 👌

This one was a great reminder that quality workmanship pays off long after the original job is finished.

⚠️🔥 One More Day and This Could Have Been Much Worse 🔥⚠️

Yesterday’s call was a scary one, and we’re really glad the clients called when they did.

The night before, they started noticing some strange power issues around the house and had BC Hydro come out to check their lines. Everything on Hydro’s side checked out, and they were advised to call an electrician. Because of the late hour, they decided to wait until morning and reached out to us first thing.

After checking the affected area upstairs, we worked our way downstairs to the electrical equipment and eventually found these fused disconnects hiding the problem. One of the conductors had badly overheated and burned right at the connection point.

Situations like this are exactly why flickering power, strange smells, buzzing, or intermittent electrical issues should never be ignored. Loose or failing connections create heat, and heat eventually turns into major damage or even fire hazards.

For now, we safely cut back the damaged conductor and spliced on a new section to get the clients safely back up and running. The lug itself also has heat damage, so this will still be getting replaced properly in the coming week or two once we can coordinate with BC Hydro for a planned shutdown. Thankfully it was caught early enough that it didn’t require an emergency utility disconnect.

Electrical problems rarely fix themselves — they usually get worse quietly over time. ⚡

If your home is having strange electrical issues, don’t wait it out. Give us a call at 778-561-4464 and we’ll help figure it out and make a plan.

💡🚪 A Different Kind of “Knock” 🚪💡

Back at it again with wireless switching solutions — this time for something a little more personal and meaningful.

We added wireless switching outside the bedrooms for a hearing impaired child, giving their parents and siblings a simple way to politely “knock” by flashing the bedroom light on and off a couple of times.

Sometimes electrical work is about more than just power and lighting. Small changes like this can help make communication easier, more comfortable, and more inclusive for the whole family.

One of the best parts of this industry is figuring out creative solutions that genuinely improve day-to-day life for our clients. ❤️
