One of the biggest myths about batteries that we hear is that you need solar panels before you can install a battery backup system.

You don’t.

A battery backup system for your home or business can charge from the grid and give you stored power when you need it most—especially during an extended power outage.

❓❓❓What if one of the biggest myths about solar... was completely backwards?❓❓❓

Watch this week's Myth-Busting Monday to learn if solar panels are bad for the environment!

The reality is that while solar panels do require energy and materials to manufacture, they typically produce far more clean electricity over their lifetime than was used to make them. Most modern solar panels generate enough clean energy to offset their manufacturing footprint within just a few years, then continue producing emissions-free electricity for decades.

Today's solar panels are also built to last, with 30-year warranties and many continuing to generate power well beyond that. As the industry grows, recycling programs are expanding too, allowing valuable materials like glass, aluminum, silicon, and copper to be recovered and reused.
