The units that will strand a load in January are already telling you.

If a re**er logs the occasional start failure in mild weather, that's not a nuisance code — that unit is running with zero margin. Cold weather doesn't create the weakness. It just collects on it.

Before it gets cold: • Load-test batteries — resting voltage isn't enough • Clean and torque starting connections and grounds • Put preheat on the PM sheet as a pass/fail

You have those unit numbers right now. Cheapest fix of the year is the one you do early. ❄️

"Check Starter Circuit" doesn't mean "buy a starter."

That code says the path between the battery and the engine turning over didn't do its job. That path includes the battery, both cables, every terminal, the ground, and the relay — the starter is just the last item on the list.

Fifteen minutes of voltage-drop testing under load finds more of these than any parts swap.

And here's why a new starter "fixes" it for a while: installing one means cleaning and re-torquing every connection on that circuit. The connections were the repair. 🔧

Hot spots at the back of the trailer usually aren't a refrigeration problem. They're an airflow problem.

The AVRO Produce Chute moves air evenly from the evaporator all the way to the rear doors — with a reinforced rear mesh section that lets excess air disperse instead of ballooning or restricting.

✅ One universal design fits both Carrier® and Thermo King® applications ✅ Front fixed rivet install — standard rivets, basic tools ✅ 10-oz PVC-coated polyester with reinforced edges ✅ Made in North America, backed by AVRO's warranty

Built for produce and mixed-load fleets that are tired of replacing chutes every season.

"Start/stop lets the load warm up." It doesn't.

The unit controls the air temperature. Air swings as it cycles — that's the sawtooth. Product temperature stays flat, because thermal mass doesn't move that fast. Default restart is 5.4°F, programmable from 0.5°F to 18°F.

The exception: very sensitive product, or loads that need constant airflow. Those earn continuous run.

A latch that won't hold doesn't cost you a latch. It costs you a door.

Once it stops catching, the door works itself open at highway speed, tears off its hinges, and takes the panel and whatever it hits with it. Now you're sourcing a door, explaining a road hazard, and running an exposed unit until the part lands.

Doors are shut. Now the unit needs to know how to run.

Continuous run holds within about 0.5°F of setpoint. Auto start/stop cycles like the fridge in your kitchen — and cuts fuel, engine hours, and maintenance while it does it.

Tightest control or lowest cost. New guide covers when to pick which, plus Intellisets.

Your fleet doesn't have an alarm problem. Six units do.

One asset in our last 90-day pull threw over 300 alarms on its own — nearly double the next unit on the list. The top handful accounted for a wildly disproportionate share of the total.

That's good news. It means the work is finite.

Sort your alarms by unit number instead of by code. Draw a line after the top 5–10. Everything below it is background noise you can leave alone this quarter.

Then read each offender's profile. Refrigeration-heavy = charge check. Electrical-heavy = battery and alternator workup. Sensor-heavy = inspect the circuit for corrosion before it strands somebody.

Six units is a week of shop time. A fleet-wide program is a quarter you'll never get back.

850 starter circuit alarms in 90 days. Zero breakdowns.

Sounds like a system crying wolf. It's the opposite — it's telling you where your next road call comes from, 850 times, in advance.

It's almost never a failed starter. It's a loose or corroded terminal. Works fine at +14°C with a healthy battery. Doesn't work at -25°C on a battery that's sat three days with a loaded box that needs to pull down.

Clean the terminals, fresh pigtail, dielectric grease, torque to spec. Do it at a scheduled PM for the price of a connector — not at 5am on the shoulder.

The rule: codes that go away on their own get scheduled. Codes that get worse on their own get prioritized.
