Many different species of bees finding food in these first blooms of Scilla siberica or Siberian Squill. One thing I love about traveling around the city tending to numerous gardens is discovering trends that don’t seem to be specific to one person’s home but are affecting our whole city’s ecosystem. So far we’ve discovered that the ladybug population is off the charts, probably the most I’ve seen in years. Those aphids don’t stand a chance. On a more somber note, there are voles EVERYWHERE, causing huge amounts of damage to plants and lawns in gardens that have never had them before.
