How much material do I need? Start with measuring your space. 📏
Figuring out how much soil, mulch, rock, or gravel to order is easier once you know what to measure.
Step 1: Measure the area
Use a measuring tape to find the length and width of the space you want to fill.
Step 2: Calculate the square footage
Length x Width = Square Feet
Example: 10 ft x 10 ft = 100 sq ft
Step 3: Decide how deep your material should be
For most landscape materials, 3 inches deep is a common starting point.
Step 4: Use this quick rule
One cubic yard, or one CLS Landscape Bag, will cover approximately a 10 ft x 10 ft area at 3 inches deep.
Working with an irregular shape?
Break the space into smaller squares or rectangles, measure each section, and add them together. For curved or uneven areas, round up slightly to make sure you have enough material.
