The first freezing morning is the worst time to discover your garage door has been warning you for weeks.

With overnight temperatures already dropping close to freezing in Alberta, take five minutes to check:

• Does the door complete a full cycle smoothly?

• Is the bottom seal cracked, brittle or letting daylight through?

• Are the safety sensors clean and working properly?

• Do the springs or cables show gaps, rust or fraying?
