Quality products and skilled craftsmanship equal big projects.
When we were awarded the modernization contract for 9 elevators at SAIT, we understood the assignment.
We didn’t take an opportunity of this size lightly. We wanted to showcase not only the quality of our craftsmanship, but our ability to project manage, coordinate, and deliver on a larger scale.
We did exactly that.
Four of the nine elevators were located in the Begin Tower, a 24-storey student residence. Our team successfully completed the modernization of all four elevators in under 30 weeks.
We removed the old, unreliable Northern controls and upgraded the elevators to EC Pixel controllers. The door operators, roller guides, and hoistway equipment also received much-needed upgrades, while the cabs were given a modern facelift to bring the entire system into a new era.
But the biggest challenge?
The Hollister-Whitney gearless machines.
These machines weigh in at over 4,500 lbs each, making transportation through the existing elevators impossible. We worked alongside one of Western Canada's largest mobile crane operations to safely bring the equipment to the roof. From there, our team utilized a series of engineered rigging systems to maneuver each machine into its final resting place.
Today, those machines spend their days delivering what they were built for — smooth rides, dependable performance, and unmatched reliability.
This project was about more than replacing equipment. It was about demonstrating what happens when quality products, skilled people, detailed planning, and serious project management come together.
When the bell rings, we answer it.
And the more complex the project, the more excited our team of industry leaders becomes to deliver.
