Customer called me out for a leak under their sink. Wasn’t showing up as much when they ran cold water but when they ran hot water it leaked even worse. When these Plastics pipes are exposed to hot water they expand and with cold water they contract. This is why when I install anything using this kind of pipe I test with both hot and cold to make sure no matter what my customers are good to go. Had to replace the whole P trap and trap adapter assembly because of how close everything was but now they have no leak to worry about.

Called out to a humidifier that wasn’t working. Looks like whoever installed it mixed up the R and C wires from the furnace to the humidistat. When this happens it’s sending the 24vac of power to the wrong terminal on the humidistat which doesn’t guarantee a burned out humidistat but when left that way for a long time it can. Even after switching them, I still couldn’t get the humidistat to give a call for humidity. I even put the humidistat into test mode which should bypass the humidity sensor and just switch it on but still nothing. Now I know the humidistat needs to be replaced. Luckily this issue was such that it’s just the humidistat that got fried and not the furnace control board. Those are a lot more costly to replace.e

Don’t forget about these!!
If yours are rubber and older than five years they are expired! Changing them for steel braided is best because they last longer and are extremely resistant to bursting. Sometimes the expiration date is printed right on the side of the rubber hoses. Check them and save yourself from a potential disaster!

Customer had a Leak under their bathroom faucet which caused water to run down into their mechanical room. Thankfully no major damage. Lo and behold… shark bites!! Great for a temporary solution but don’t forget to have any of these shark bite fittings and valves you use changed out for proper piping connections sooner rather than later!

Found this today in a customers home. This Hot water tank tried to implode. This can happen with sudden pressure differences between the water system of the city and our homes. Often times when this happens the Hot water tank will start leaking. In this case it didn’t so it’s unclear how long this has been like this. A good way to help prevent this is to install an expansion tank near the hot water tank. This will need to be replaced as there is no way to repair this tank and it presents a risk of exhaust exiting the flue and not being properly directed up the vent pipe like normal.
