Last week, Valard offices and crews across the country paused to observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. One gathering in Saskatchewan stood out.

Our crew working on Little Pine First Nation invited the community to join them for the reading of our message and a moment of silence. Myron Checkosis, a member of Little Pine Council, joined us, along with family, friends and co-workers from the Little Pine Convenience Store and Gas Bar.

Afterward, there were handshakes, words of thanks and stories shared. Myron even offered everyone drinks from the store, on him.

It was a small moment, but it's the kind that matters. Thank you to Myron and everyone from Little Pine who took the time to be there with us.

Valard Construction LP is excited to share that stringing has been successfully completed on Phase 1 of the Waasigan Transmission Line Project between Lakehead TS to Mackenzie TS.

This achievement is the result of nearly two years of dedicated construction effort by every team on the project who keep the work moving safely.

We want to recognize the ongoing support and partnership of the Indigenous communities and businesses along the route, who have played a key role helping us reach this point.

Recognizing two of our crew members in Northern Ontario with the Workhorse Award.👏

Nolan Logelin was recognized for his technical skills, consistency and dedication to keeping crews running smoothly. From handling key repairs in-house to keeping tasks on schedule, Nolan takes pride in getting the job done right.

Mike Genaille was recognized for taking the initiative to guide new labourers through safe operating procedures and emergency preparedness protocols. Always ready to lend a hand, Mike brings a positive attitude and a strong commitment to his team every day.

Every September 30, we pause to remember. The history of residential schools is part of this country's story, and today we honour the survivors who lived it and the families who carry it forward.

We also recognize the strength and resilience of Indigenous Peoples in the communities where we live and work. That recognition comes with a commitment: to keep listening, keep learning, and build workplaces grounded in respect.

There are many ways to learn, reflect and show your support. We encourage employees to visit the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation for resources and opportunities to learn more about the histories and cultures of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples.
