Grout color is the decision most homeowners make last and regret first.

Here's what usually goes wrong:

MATCHING GROUT — Looks clean on the sample card. On a full floor, matching grout disappears — which sounds ideal until you realize it shows every scuff, every bit of tracked-in dirt. Light grout on a light tile is beautiful for about three weeks.

CONTRASTING GROUT — Bold choice, looks striking at installation. But contrast also exposes every imperfection in the layout. If the tile lines aren't perfectly even, contrasting grout makes that obvious from across the room.

THE SWEET SPOT — Mid-tone grout that's 1–2 shades darker or lighter than your tile. Forgiving enough to hide minor variation. Timeless enough to not date the room. It's what we recommend for most Calgary bathrooms.

Two more things worth knowing:
→ Sanded grout for floor joints wider than 3mm. Unsanded for walls.
→ Always seal within 72 hours of installation.
→ Never commit to a grout color from a wet sample — dry grout looks completely different.

Csilla's shower had a curb that wasn't draining correctly, a problem that's invisible until you're standing in water. We rebuilt the curb with the correct slope and matched the tile so it looks like it was always meant to be there.
