Weathered-wood blend, SW Calgary.
The color blend matters more than people think, done wrong and a roof looks flat from the street. Done right, and it reads almost like cedar shake from the sidewalk while giving you a modern asphalt shingle's durability and cost.
This is one of our favorite finishes this year.

THE JOB FILE — Ep. 1
📍 NW Calgary 🏠 Hip-ridge cap replacement 🌨️ Reason: wind had lifted and cracked several ridge caps over two winters, small problem, but left alone it becomes a water-intrusion problem fast
What we did: replaced the full ridge line with matched architectural caps, resealed every fastener point, checked the surrounding field shingles for related wind damage while we were up there.
This is the stuff that doesn't make it into a "before/after" post because there's no dramatic transformation, just a small job done right before it turns into a big one.
That's most of roofing, honestly.
