To catch you up on our Tool Box Tuesdays, a few weeks ago we featured Yarrow for our plant of the week.
Common Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) is a hardy perennial that is beloved for its striking flat-topped flower clusters that come in a variety of colors including white, yellow, pink, red and terra cotta 🧡 This is a great plant to add some color to any dry locations.
Next, we started doing a “w**d” of the week. This has been really cool to learn because I really do just call them w**ds. What I would call bad clover, is really called Black Medick.
Black medic, Medicago lupulina, is a common, prostrate broadleaf w**d that is found throughout the United States and southern Canada. It is most often considered growing as a w**d in dry, sunny areas in turf and waste ground, such as along roadsides and railroads, but can also be a nuisance in gardens and fields. Black medic can be an indication of low soil nitrogen in lawns as it outcompetes weak grass.
