It pays to have electricians doing your solar. Not marketing companies.
This client had a lot going on. A 22.32 kW solar array, a heat pump addition in the mech room, and an EV in the plans. The existing 100A service didn't cut it.
The usual answer is a full 200A service upgrade. Trench across the yard, torn up landscaping, angry neighbors and an inflated bill.
We got them to 150A without breaking ground.
22.32 kW is a lot of backfeed for a residential service, so rather than fight the busbar limits on the existing panel, we installed a meter main combo. Replaced the home panel. Added a second panel in the mech room for the heat pump. Set a sub panel in the garage ready for the EV charger.
All the capacity they need. No trenching. No restoration costs. Room to grow into.
That's the difference between a company that sells solar and a company that's licensed to work on your service.
