⚡We are thrilled to share an update on the BC Hydro Ladore Spillway Seismic Upgrade Project in Campbell River on Vancouver Island!

Once complete, this critical infrastructure upgrade will help ensure the facility can continue to safely pass water downstream following a major earthquake or significant flood event. The project includes the replacement of spillway gates and hoist systems, construction of new control and backup power buildings, and additional anchoring of the spillway piers to bedrock to strengthen the site's resilience.

As part of the project, Houle is delivering a range of integrated electrical and technology solutions, including detailed design and installation of power distribution, fire alarm, generation, security, and control systems to support the safe and reliable operation of the upgraded facility.

Our teams are currently completing several building fit-outs across the site and have finished the majority of underground duct bank installations connecting the control buildings to the dam. Over the coming months, work will continue with the installation of power and control cabling, fire alarm systems, HVAC systems, diesel generators, and load bank and distribution systems.

With the first major project milestone scheduled for completion by the end of this year, we want to give a big thank you to everyone contributing to this important project and helping strengthen critical infrastructure for generations to come!
