⚽✨ Game On, Vancouver! ✨⚽

As BC Place gears up to host Team Canada as they take on Qatar, we’re proud to have played a part behind the scenes—helping make the stadium shine brighter, smarter, and ready for kickoff.

Long before the opening whistle, our teams have been hard at work enhancing the viewing experience for fans in the stands and those watching from across the globe.

In 2019, we swapped out more than 550 legacy lights for a state-of-the-art LED system—delivering crystal-clear, flicker-free lighting built for super slow-mo replays and world-class broadcasts. In 2023, we elevated the fan experience with dynamic, colour-changing LEDs around the Level 2 concourse.

Now, just in time for one of the world’s largest sporting events, our teams have completed field-of-play enhancements, including installing 76 LED floodlights, upgrading four existing electrical panels and adding four new ones, installing 20 LED driver cabinets and additional supporting infrastructure, and integrating backup power systems to keep the lights shining through every match, every goal, and every celebration.

From kickoff to final whistle, we’re proud to help power every moment under the lights.

From apprentice to SVP, Matt Bewsey’s journey is a powerful reflection of what’s possible at Houle.

Matt’s career journey spans more than 20 years and demonstrates what happens when talent, dedication, and opportunity come together. His commitment to our people, our clients, and our craft has helped shape not only his own path, but the strength of our organization.

Most recently as Vice President, Major Projects & Field Operations, Matt led some of our most complex and high-impact work, positioning Houle for continued growth, specifically in the healthcare sector. He has also championed innovation in how we plan, manufacture, and deliver projects, while building strong, trusted relationships across our field and office teams.

Matt leads with collaboration, accountability, and a shared focus on doing better every day. As SVP, Operations, he will continue to strengthen how we align, deliver, and grow, supporting our teams and advancing the way we serve our clients.

🎉 It’s officially open! The Freedom Mobile Arch at the PNE is complete and already welcoming its first audiences!

Debuting just in time for the world’s biggest soccer tournaments, this stunning 10,000-seat, state-of-the-art amphitheatre is set to become one of Vancouver’s premier performance hubs. The venue is set to host live watch parties, a jam-packed summer concert series, and countless community events.

For this landmark project, our team delivered comprehensive electrical and technology solutions, including electrical and power distribution, performance lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm systems, and conduit installation for security, data & AV systems.

In total, our teams installed over:

🔷2.2 kilometres of linear lighting across the mass-timber roof,
🔷Over 4,700 lighting fixtures
🔷120,000 metres of wiring,
🔷22,141 metres of feeder cables throughout the site.

Featuring one of the largest free-span timber roof structures in the world, this project presented challenges not typically encountered on a conventional build. To support the installation of the roof structure, we pre-installed conduit runs and lighting fixtures at ground level before the beams were lifted into place, reducing installation time while significantly improving on-site safety by minimizing overhead work.

With the Freedom Mobile Arch now ready to welcome the world, we’d like to thank our dedicated team and project partners for their collaboration and expertise in helping bring this project across the goal line!🌎⚽
