Hard to believe it’s been more than a decade since Trapp and Holbrook was completed.

Located in the heart of Vancouver, this 21-storey concrete development brought together 196 homes, shared amenity spaces, commercial units, and a five-level parkade, while preserving the heritage façades of the original Trapp Block and Holbrook buildings.

More than 10 years later, it’s still a great example of how new development and heritage can come together in one project.

The recent rink pour at Burnaby Lake Recreation Centre had us thinking back to another recreation project we’re proud to have been part of: the Port Coquitlam Community Centre. 🏗️🏒

Delivered for the City of Port Coquitlam, the PoCo Rec Centre was a major design-build project that brought together three arenas, an aquatic centre, library, fitness centre, gymnasium, community spaces, and more.

One of the biggest challenges was keeping the existing library and two sheets of ice operational while construction progressed in phases. Working closely with the City, our team carefully coordinated the work to keep the facility operating while construction moved forward, with Phase 2 ultimately completed five months ahead of schedule.

It’s projects like this that make us excited to see Burnaby Lake Recreation Centre taking shape. We’re proud to be part of building the next generation of recreation spaces that will serve BC communities for years to come. 🏒👏

A major milestone at the Burnaby Lake Recreation Complex! 🏗️👏

The concrete pour for the new NHL-sized ice rink is complete, marking a big step forward for this exciting project. Seeing the rink start to take shape makes it even easier to picture the finished space coming together. 🏒

A huge effort from everyone involved in making this pour happen. We’re proud to be part of a project that will bring a new state-of-the-art recreation facility to Burnaby.

A rainy day never stops our hard work, so we definitely weren’t going to let it stop our BBQ either! ☔️

We had a great afternoon at the Ventana office, hosting some of our friends from BCIT/future members of the construction workforce for a BBQ! Good food, good conversations and indoor bingo made for a pretty great afternoon.
