With warmer temperatures and longer dry spells, it's not just your lawn that feels the heat—your trees can too.

Trees under water stress may begin dropping leaves early, develop brown, scorched leaf edges, or show slower growth. The good news? A little attention to watering can go a long way in helping them stay healthy through the hottest part of the season.

A few reminders:
• Water deeply rather than frequently.
• Check soil moisture before watering—too much water can be just as harmful as too little.
• A layer of mulch helps the soil retain moisture and keeps roots cooler.
