Design isn’t just seen it’s felt. When designing multi-family and commercial interiors, we prioritize acoustic comfort, natural daylighting, and tactile material selections.

The result? Well-balanced spaces that support focus, well-being, and long-term durability.

Before a building takes shape, architects first need to understand the site it will become part of.

Site planning looks at how a building relates to its surroundings, including access points, movement through the site, neighbouring properties, landscaping, outdoor spaces, and the placement of the building itself.

These considerations help create a layout that is functional, connected, and responsive to its surroundings. They also influence how people arrive, move through, and experience the space.

Good architecture isn't only about the building itself. It starts with understanding the place where that building belongs.

What a quarter it’s been! 📈

From major residential handovers in Oakville and Milton to breaking ground on essential public infrastructure, Q3 2026 has been defined by growth, sustainability, and strong partnerships. As we head into the fall season, our team is excited to continue shaping the spaces where Ontario lives, works, and stays safe.

From waterfront destinations to projects shaped by their surroundings, great design starts with understanding the relationship between people, place, and the environment.

Our work across waterfront and adjacent communities reflects a thoughtful approach to creating spaces that connect with their setting while supporting the people who experience them.

Architecture is shaped by more than buildings. It’s shaped by experiences, influences, and the people who choose to dedicate their careers to the built environment. We asked Krzysztof Olak, one of our architects, and his answer takes us back to childhood, growing up surrounded by construction, experiencing architecture across Europe, and discovering how art, history, creativity, and logic could come together through design.

Here’s his story.

Perhaps architecture was always part of my story.

Born in Poland and raised in a family of builders, I was introduced to the world of architecture and construction from an early age. My mother was an architectural technologist, while my father was a civil engineer and ran his own construction company. Construction sites were a familiar part of my childhood, and watching ideas take shape in the real world came naturally to me.

Growing up in Europe, I was also fortunate to travel extensively. From historic and classical architecture to modernism and contemporary design, I was surrounded by an extraordinary diversity of buildings, cities, and places. Experiencing how architecture can reflect history, culture, technology, and identity only deepened my curiosity.

In high school, my fascination with art and history began to converge with this early exposure to construction. Architecture felt like the natural intersection of everything I was drawn to.

The more I learned, the more fascinated I became.

I’ve always had an analytical mind, and one of the things I value most about being an architect is the ability to look at a project holistically, bringing together design, structure, materials, technology, construction, and the experience of the people who ultimately inhabit a space.

For me, architecture is where creativity meets logic, and ideas become tangible.

Perhaps that is what drew me to it in the first place: growing up surrounded by the process of building, and eventually finding my place in shaping what gets built.

On , we’re reflecting on how sustainable civic buildings improve community well-being.

Projects targeting LEED certification, like the new Oakville Fire Station—utilize non-toxic materials, optimized indoor air quality, and daylighting strategies to support occupant health. When we build green, we build healthier communities.

A new school year is here! 🎒📚

As students, teachers, and families settle back into their routines, KNYMH wishes everyone a safe and successful school year ahead.
Safety is an important part of thoughtful design. From the spaces we learn and gather in to the communities we move through every day, creating environments that are welcoming, accessible, and safe for everyone matters.

Here’s to a great year of learning, growing, and making new memories. Happy Back to School!
