A friend of mine asked if I could make them a coffee table and end table for their condo out in kicking horse pass where they enjoy downhill skiing every winter. They sent me a picture of another table they saw online and asked if I could do something similar. I went one step further and incorporated their last name, along with a little image of a skier carving (duplicating as an underline to their name). They are thrilled with the end result. It’s cool to know my work has been carried all over the country!

This is a table we built for a friend in Michigan. The stones were picked from the shores of Lake Superior (a special place for them) and brought to our shop earlier in the summer with nothing more than a concept of having the rocks/sand incorporated into an epoxy table to fit in their home. After some discussion to get a sense of what they like, I set off to work to combine the concept and materials into this functional piece of art.

This is a great company and you’d be working with/for wonderful people. If I needed a job... 😉
Be it good or bad, in my line of work I’m the one that is helping employ them. Haha.

Maple root/epoxy coffee table underway. This is a multi pour job with different colours and there will be some extra details to show later. It’s a lot of fun getting artistic like this. I can’t wait to finish this project. Stay tuned!

They say no two snowflakes are alike. This is also true of wood, especially live edge pieces. Add a hand carved epoxy river and you get something even more “one of a kind”.
You are unique. The memories you make in your home are unique and personal to you and your family. So the space you are in should have something unique and personalized to suit. There are so many possibilities I can help turn into reality for you, and this is a great example of a piece just like that. So whether you want a wild charcuterie board to have in your kitchen, or you need a whole new set of kitchen cabinets, I’m sure I can help you get there with something that nobody else has.

As a type 1 diabetic I wear a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) to manage my blood sugar. I’ve taken up this little hobby of rebuilding these Bluetooth transmitters by installing new batteries in them when they die.
I always use epoxy to cover over the batteries and have been adding colours to make them look nice. But today I went further after joking with a friend about rebuilding one with a nice wood grain.

Pictured here is a nice walnut covered transmitter that will be worn proudly as it sends blood sugar readings to a smartphone
It’s cool when I get to use my wood working skills to make a condition like type 1 diabetes more “fun”

The wood even came from some logs I found for sale on Kijiji, milled into lumber by / Mark Davis and dried in my kiln. 😎👍🏼

Oh and this is just out of an off cut from another cool piece I’m working on. Stay tuned!

Today I built an “Alaskan sawmill” attachment for my chainsaw. This will allow me to cut some serious sized pieces with the right chainsaw. I’ve got a saw with a 36” bar, seen in this picture. In the market for a Stihl MS880 (biggest chainsaw Stihl makes) with a 60” bar.

I hope to cut some slabs to do some cool epoxy tables or other fun projects! 😎👍🏼

One of the perks of having a cabinet shop is that you get some offcuts of wood that can be made into something fun for the kids. This was a fun way for them to spend a rainy afternoon! 😎👍🏼

Today was an exciting day for me to put this new island counter top in place. The characteristic live edge walnut/black epoxy combination look stunning! I put this in for my friend Anita Desmet - Certified Trainer & Nutrition Coach who didn’t stop staring at it while I packed up my tools to leave. I suspect she’s still there now. Haha!

Epoxy is a very durable, high gloss material that can be left super glossy or buffed to any level of shine you want. It’s repairable and the possibilities of what you can do with it seem nearly endless. I’ve been acquiring more live edge slabs to work with for future projects like this.

Can you dream of something like this in your house?
