This week in flowers...

I had a really good weekend (I took Friday off work too) planting seeds and seedlings out. I'm probably 75% of the way through the 4 gardens, but need another week or two to finish getting the rest in, including the dahlias and glads in the field.

It looks like the heat and wind will be a little higher so I'll start the sprinklers soon so nothing roasts too bad in the heat.

Devone came home on Friday to start trenching a bigger water line in for me and once that's all hooked up, hopefully my hoses will look a little better 😅

I lost a few plants over the winter that I didnt expect to lose, but I guess thats what happens when winter is 9 months long. They weren't major contributors though, so I'm not losing any sleep over them.

Back to my day job for a few days this week and I'm glad because my feet need a break!

But for real, I couldn't do what I do without this man's help. Devone literally comes home for a few hours (when he's more than a couple hours away) to get equipment ready, hook up water, and help me with whatever I need. He's my fertilizer guy, my custom sprayer and my sounding board. He lets me take over every square inch of space in the yard, and might tease, but never complains.

I might be the face you see all the time, but he does a lot of the behind the scenes work. And he's going to be so unimpressed that I have this many photos... 😆

This week in flowers...

Now that I can get out and plant, I hope to give you a regular, weekly update that lives on my feed.

Right now there isn't much going on. I've direct planted some sweet peas, Bells of Ireland, bupleurum, larkspur, bachelor buttons and nigella.

The allium that I planted last fall, along with some perennials are the only green showing up, and the garlic looks to be surviving so far too.

As long as it stays dry, I'll be able to till the field and get more planted!

This is pretty lame so far and might be for the next few weeks, but soon enough there will finally be more green!

The next everlasting frame workshop is coming up soon, and this one is a big one! Three workshops in one day!

All frames will be white for this workshop and I'm bringing a great selection of dried blooms. These are perfect for an office, bedroom or to gift!

If you missed this workshop in April, now is a good chance to snag your tickets for June. Visit https://www.bulldogcreations.ca/ to get your ticket now!

These everlasting floral books deserve a permanent spot on my page. I'm in love with how they turned out and how much fun they were to make!

I'll admit, it wasn't easy to bend, fold, cut and glue the pages of these old books, and I couldn't help but think about where they came from and how many people have read them over the years.

These flew off the shelft and I hope everyone that picked one up on the weekend truly enjoys their little piece of art!

Stay tuned for a floral book workshop coming this fall!

Why buy local flowers?

They last longer: Local flowers means they don't travel as far which means fresher stems and more days of beauty in your home.

They’re grown with care for the land: Local flower farmers often use sustainable practices and deeply care about the land they grow on.

They support a local business: Your purchase supports a small, local business, and that support often ripples out to other local shops, makers, and causes.

They create local jobs: Local flower farms hire local people, helping keep skills, work, and wages within the community.

You know where your flowers come from: You might get to visit the farm, see where your flowers are grown, and actually know the person growing them. That connection makes the blooms feel extra special.

They’re seasonal and one-of-a-kind: Local flowers reflect the season you’re in. No mass production, no copy-and-paste bouquets, just what’s blooming right now.

Hello Spring! We'll forgive you for taking your sweet time, because you arrived just in time for the FIRST Prairie Flower Market of the 2026 season!

Join us May 10 from 1-4 PM for our market opener. We're showing up with a special collection of every seedling/tuber/seed/corm you could possible want for your garden, as well as the most special 100% locally made or created gifts and accoutrement.

While all our markets are incredible, you will not find another market like this across Canada, the US, or Europe. Trust me... I've tried. Shop plants, seeds, and everything between from local flower farmers and growers that have selected varieties, and planted with perfect timing, all the best for our growing zone and conditions. Not only that, you get to meet and get advice from your local experts: the flower farmers themselves that know how to grow in our zone so well we make a living at it.

We have vegetable seedlings and seeds as well. Don't forget decorative and hard-to-find pumpkin and squash seeds (grow your own pink pumpkin... we've already done the hard work for you.

The perfect Mother's Day all under one roof. Come celebrate mom, auntie, you, that weird art teacher that was always so motherly... in blunt "I'm not sure if that was a complement" kind of way. Our vendors are from all walks of life, celebrating our children, our mother's who have joined the stars, the babies we hope to have, and all the special women in our lives. Because just PFM's motto for the vendors is "the rising tide lifts all boats," that extends to you as well. Whether this Mother's Day is a celebration, or a little bit tricky, being around good people who have made something good, will be good for you too.

We can't wait to see you all. We've missed your faces we have come to know over a season of markets.

Soil health is important, as is keeping w**d growth down, minimizing erosion, and attracting beneficial insects. If you've got a spot in your garden that you won't be planting, consider adding a cover crop into your rotation. Having something growing there is better than letting the w**ds take over, and ReBuild is a good fit.
