We can and must do more to reduce emissions and slow global warming. One of the easy solutions is waste disposal and recycling. Burning waste should never be a choice since the pollutants hang low in the valley and impact everyone who breaths the air, most specifically young children with asthma and persons with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Now that heating season is in full swing, the smoke from homes heated with oil and wood is also a contributing factor to air quality.
Using efficient heating solutions and insulating your home are two steps to reduce emissions. Insulating and draft proofing your home reduces fuel consumption no matter which energy form you use for heat. Both are big wins. The impacts of emissions are clear.
