Savage Carpentry We are a General Contractor serving Beaverton, Brechin, Lagoon city and surrounding areas.

Richard Savage is a graduate of Fleming College, since completing his apprenticeship in carpentry and obtaining his Red Seal certification he has gone on to surround himself with a highly skilled team to help his clients from design to completion. Have you ever had some time away at a cottage?

That feeling of showing up by the water, slowing life down, enjoying time spent with friends and family.

Spending time by the water with our family is one of our favourite things to do, that’s why we’ve chosen to specialize in large scale renovations on the water.

Small details take months of pre planning.

The clients on our upcoming Canal Lake Reno wanted more views of the water, .drafting.co crushed the design complete with a 16’ wide patio door leading out to a covered deck finished off with Tongue and Groove ceiling, pot lights and timber framed accents.

Understanding the clients desired outcome is to have as much of a view of the lake as possible, I mentioned the idea of increasing the height and getting creative with the ex*****on. The clients trusted us and are excited to see the results.

We recently completed some selective demo to finalize exact measurements and today put the deposit down on the window/door package.

Our goal is to have the ceiling drywall finish off into the top of the patio door as low as possible to maximize the view

Having our clients trust us with creative solutions means the world to us, and being a Red Seal Certified carpenter ensures we have the technical experience & understanding to set proper expectations with our team and pull this off creatively regardless of what we found in the exterior wall or roof system above.

I started this business before my wife and I had kids.

The vision from day one was simple. I knew we wanted to have kids someday, and I knew I would have to build a business that would provide me the opportunity to spend more time with my kids BEFORE the kids came, or I would spend my career trying to figure out how to control the business.

I envisioned no working while they’re home, no late nights, no weekends.

To this day I still get push back and feel the pressure from this. I already know the systems I put in place to support this are working.

Last week we had a past client reach out and wanted us to simply swing by and look into something at their place, I advised them I would probably have my kids with me, and without hesitation they were supportive.

The clients weren’t home, I don’t even think my girls knew I had strategically grabbed the information needed while they ran down to the lakeside on the clients property, for them, it was a quick bike ride and an opportunity to explore a place they have only seen from a distance and always wanted to check out. For me, it was an easy opportunity to serve our clients while spending time with my kids.

I wouldn’t trade time with my family for anything. Especially to grow a business.

In business I believe sustainability isn’t seen, you often can’t even feel it. Like anything worth investing in, it compounds over time. No short cuts no cheat code. Just showing up everyday with small consistent actions.

The business isn’t going anywhere, our kids are only young for so long, we’re going to soak up every moment

I first stepped foot on a job site at 15 years old.

I remember back then, the first time I experienced stepping into a space that we completely transformed. Blown away by what once was vs the space that now exists.

To this day, I still get that same feeling of excitement, seeing how much these spaces have changed.

This project spans four generations for this family, and for four generations their only view of the water from the inside of the cottage came from a standard size patio door.

I’m grateful to this family for trusting us with their generational home. Grateful to .drafting.co for starting the process and bringing their vision to life, and grateful to our team for getting us this far.
