It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Shortt, the owner of Father's Fencing. Wayne passed quickly and peacefully on May 12, 2026. He always spoke so highly of all of his customers and in his last days he referenced many of you and how you made him feel. Allowing him to create beautiful spaces for your home, while allowing him to get to know you, your children and your animals made his heart content. When he started Father's Fencing, he looked at it from the approach of a Father and that is how the company got it's name. Wayne just wanted to help people make their yard a space they could be, without costing them a fortune, just like a father would do for his child. He always told me of the wonderful people he worked for, speaking their names to me like they were longtime friends and always telling us of the wonderful treatment he received - cold drinks and homemade lunch were always his favourite!
He will be greatly missed and we thank you for the privilege of letting him work on your homes and for the kindness always shown to him while doing so. We warmly welcome any customers or friends to his Celebration of Life on July 12th at Mohawk Park Pavilion, from 12pm- 4pm.
