Here’s a simple way to understand it:

• Plain Sawn – This is the most common cut. It has soft, wavy patterns.
• Quarter Sawn – Cut in a way that makes straight lines. It looks cleaner and more uniform.
• Rift Sawn – Very straight and even lines. This is the most modern and consistent look.
