Let me reintroduce myself

My name is Robert Landry and I made Bowmanville our home 13 years ago

I am married with 3 grown children and a 17 month old granddaughter.

I am a 3rd generational roofing contractor that is the owner of The Cutting Edge Roofing with over 40 years experience

We are insured and have WSIB and we don’t sub out our work. All work done by our company are our employees.

With all of the ongoing rain, our phones have been quite busy with requests for estimates for new roofs and repairs.

What should you ask for when meeting your contractor and getting an estimate for the first time?

First off you should ask to see if they have their employees on WSIB. Very important in case of any accidents. They could go after you if they aren’t covered

Liability Insurance-another great thing to get proof of. Your contractor should have at least 5 million dollars in liability insurance to cover any incidents that can happen

Are the guys working in your roof an actual employee of The Cutting Edge Roofing?-all of our employees are covered by WSIB and insured through us as well. We also don’t sub out our work…so you can be sure you are getting our reputable workmanship on your roof…everytime

Quality material-we only use the best quality shingles on your roof. Always make sure that your material is purchased at a reputable supplier so you can be sure you are not getting a knock off product. We only use the top rated brands…if we wouldn’t put it on our roof, we won’t put it on yours.

Renovation Tip Tuesday

Did you know that when redoing your roof there is a roofing system that is mandated by the manufacturer to ensure your warranty remains intact?

Most Shingle companies require a system that goes hand in hand with your shingie installation

Asphalt Shingles should never touch your plywood…no matter what brand of shingles you are installing on your home

You should have ice and water around the perimeter of the eavestrough and up the valleys. The remainder of the roof should have a synthetic paper between the shingles and plywood.

Without these you run the risk of a voided warranty through the manufacturer. You also limit the lifespan of your roof

We have noticed so many steps that other roofing companies miss when called to ask why their new roof is leaking.
