The first phase of our newest Yellowknife project is officially underway! Over the past several weeks, our team has been busy transforming raw materials into fully assembled, installation-ready pipe assemblies that are now making their way north. Working from our manufacturing facility, the Lauden team cut, prepared, fitted, assembled, tested, labeled, and packaged each component to ensure efficient transportation and seamless deployment on site.

The photos above capture that process firsthand—from incoming raw pipe and materials to completed assemblies that have been wrapped, secured, and loaded for shipment. It's a behind-the-scenes look at how we manufacture critical project components long before they reach the job site.

By completing the assembly work in a controlled shop environment, we're able to deliver consistent quality, improve productivity, and reduce the amount of material handling and field fabrication required on site. Instead of moving and processing raw materials throughout the project, crews receive organized, installation-ready assemblies that can be put in place immediately, helping maintain project momentum and keep construction progressing efficiently.

As construction continues in Yellowknife, our manufacturing team will keep supplying completed assemblies to support ongoing field operations and ensure materials arrive when they're needed.

Lauden Mechanical Innovation is proud to be working on the Larga Kitikmeot Travel Lodge in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Our crews have already mobilized and are on site as work gets underway on this exciting project.

Despite the significant distance from our home base, our team remains committed to delivering quality workmanship through careful planning, coordination, and ex*****on. We look forward to sharing project updates and progress highlights in the weeks ahead.

Lauden is proud to showcase the completed mechanical skid system for the Beaver Lake Schools project — one of the largest skid mobilizations we’ve completed to date!

What started as a fully prefabricated mechanical room in our shop was loaded, transported to site, craned into position, and reassembled inside the building — all within 4 days. For a remote project like this, prefabrication changes everything. While the building structure was still progressing on site, our team was able to complete roughly 3 months of mechanical room work in a controlled shop environment. Once the building was ready, the mechanical room was essentially ready too.

This approach improves quality, reduces congestion on site, minimizes schedule risk, and allows our field crews to stay ahead of other trades instead of building critical systems from scratch in the field. We are proud of the coordination and ex*****on from everyone involved in making this happen!

Check out some of the images captured by our team throughout the different stages of this project — from shop fabrication to final installation on site.

Next up meet Laurence! Laurence is the founder of Lauden, having started the company in 1976. With over 50 years behind him, his impact is still felt in the way the business operates every day. Now semi-retired, Laurence spends as much time as he can enjoying the outdoors—but when he’s around the shop or on a project, his presence is immediately valuable. He’s incredibly capable, still in great shape, and brings a builder’s mindset to everything he does. Whether it’s fixing, fabricating, or improving how something works, he’s always thinking a few steps ahead.

What stands out most is his openness to change and his drive to find better ways of doing things. The core values we operate on today—making it happen and continuous improvement—are principles Laurence has lived since day one. It’s a testament to his foundation that the company continues to grow and evolve, and something he can be proud of as the team carries that vision forward.
