Tired of dealing with a failing ceiling? Historic lathe and plaster ceilings often reach past the point of practical restoration as they approach well over a century in age and are frequently held together by layers of wallpaper and paint, making it difficult to predictably repair. On dry ceilings without active moisture issues or existing mold, strapping over the existing ceiling and re-sheeting can be cleaner, faster, and more practical than demolition or spot repairs when there are multiple layers of wallpaper, possible lead and asbestos-based materials, as well as decades of cracking and delamination hidden beneath.
