This project involved repairing and re-parging multiple foundation walls and the front steps of the home. Over time, the existing parging had developed deep cavities, holes, cracks, and failing sections that were allowing moisture to pe*****te and causing the finish to deteriorate.

Our crew removed all loose and unsound material, repaired and filled the deep voids and damaged areas, properly prepared the surfaces, and applied fresh parge to create a clean, uniform appearance throughout. The result is a much cleaner, more uniform finish that not only improves the appearance of the home but also helps protect the foundation from further deterioration and moisture intrusion.

This is just phase one of the project, and we're excited to be returning this fall to continue work on this beautiful home and complete the next stage of its restoration.

Part 2 of this unique restoration project! 🔥

After restoring the original stone chimney that had been hidden behind a wood chase for many years, we moved on to this beautiful outdoor fieldstone fireplace.

Years of weather exposure had caused deterioration throughout the mortar joints and firebox. Our team carefully repointed the entire structure and completed necessary firebox repairs, restoring the fireplace while preserving its original character and craftsmanship.

It's always rewarding uncovering and restoring masonry features that deserve to be seen rather than covered up.

Thank you to our amazing clients for trusting Lyttle's Masonry with another memorable restoration project.

Part One ! Back for another project with one of our repeat customers!

In early 2024, we completed a full interior repointing of this fieldstone chimney. This time, we were brought back to tackle the exterior.

At some point before the current homeowners purchased the property, a wood chase had been constructed around the original stone chimney. With the homeowners wanting to restore the chimney's character, we carefully removed the enclosure to expose the fieldstone beneath.

The stonework had been previously repaired using large amounts of caulking in the joints, so we ground out the old material and fully repointed the chimney with fresh mortar. The result is a restored fieldstone chimney that looks the way it was meant to and will continue to perform for years to come.

With the wood chase removed and the stonework restored, the chimney is now ready for the homeowner's upcoming roof replacement and metal cap chasers, which will complete the transformation.

Thank you for trusting Lyttle's Masonry once again. Repeat customers are the greatest compliment we can receive.

This old well had seen better days. We removed the failing caps made out of wood, repaired and restored the masonry, and finished it off with new limestone coping to completely clean up the look while protecting the structure for years to come.

Homeowner couldn't have been happier with how this one turned out.👌

From failing and undersized to fully rebuilt and properly brought up to height.

This chimney was completely rebuilt above the roofline due to deterioration and improper previous construction. We rebuilt the chimney using new brick selected by the homeowner, installed a new precast concrete crown with fillers and proper sloped concrete infill, upgraded the chimney cap, and ensured the chimney was brought to the proper height for improved draft and performance. Special care was also taken with the flashing integration on the steel roof system to provide a clean, watertight finish while maintaining the overall appearance of the cottage.

Another solid rebuild completed by Dallas’ crew👌🧱

We were requested to complete parging repairs to the basement stairwell due to widespread cracking, deterioration, and previous failing repairs. Unfortunately, the previous “masons” had simply parged over loose and flaking material without properly removing the compromised areas, which caused continued failure throughout the entire stairwell.

Our process began with the full removal of all loose and deteriorated parging material to expose a solid substrate for proper adhesion. The surfaces were then thoroughly cleaned, and prepared before applying bonding agents and carrying out all necessary patching and rebuilding in the heavily damaged areas.

Once the repairs were completed, we applied a new parging finish throughout the stairwell and foundation walls to create a smooth, consistent, and durable surface. Extra care was taken around the stairs, corners, and window areas to ensure a clean and professional finish while blending all repaired sections together seamlessly.

The completed repair not only completely refreshed the appearance of the space, but also helped restore the integrity and long-term protection of the foundation surfaces.

Proper preparation is everything when it comes to masonry repairs. Covering failing material is never a lasting solution.

A few recent jobs from Chantel’s crew👇

Two crews, a full schedule, and a lot of pride in the work we’re putting out.

Couldn’t do it without the guys showing up and getting it done every day.

And yes, I’m on the tools too👷‍♀️

This chimney was showing clear signs of failure. Cracking, separation, and deterioration on the crown and bricks that was allowing water to pe*****te directly into the structure.

While the chimney is still in use, one of the flues is no longer active, and the homeowners opted to have the failing crown fully removed rather than repaired.

We then installed a new precast concrete cap, complete with a proper overhang and drip edge to shed water away from the brickwork and protect the structure long-term.
