Drywall and sound proofing are coming to an end. This home with its ICF exterior and the interior rooms insulated it will be peaceful for everyone in the home. Rest and relaxation are important in this little quiet Country Getaway. Next week the family is lucky enough to have a finish carpenter hidden in their tree. He will make an appearance to install a nice T and G ceiling. As well as some bathroom tile. We look forward to seeing his Craftsmanship.

Another successful slab base and pour. This slab has a 8” granular base with a 10x25 slab for a sawmill. The remaining area is 6” topper and packed. For lumber stacking and storage. Now off the the next one in Eganville. We prep all our bases and we pour our own concrete to ensure quality control.

Everything starts at the footing.

Before the framing, before the roof, before any of the finishes people notice, there has to be a solid foundation underneath it all.

Good footings need to be laid out properly, reinforced correctly, and poured with accuracy. Get this stage wrong and every trade that follows is fighting the mistake.

At Flint & Steel Construction, we take the beginning of the build seriously because the entire house depends on it.

Final Touches on Kilgore Island 🏝️

We’re putting the final touches on this custom home on the mighty Kilgore Island, and this project has been one hell of a fun one.

Building on an island comes with its own set of challenges. Materials, equipment, trades—everything has to get there somehow. Next week we’ll finish up the staining and barge the granite countertops over. 😬😂 Just another day at the office.

Projects like this are what Flint & Steel Construction is built for.
