The water issue was fixed. The floor still needed work.

A French drain left about a ¼” height difference around the perimeter.

Instead of tearing everything out, we prepped and feathered the surface so the new glue-down flooring could go over the existing floor cleanly.

Good finishes start with good prep.

We talk a lot about standards, quality and doing the job right.

But the people doing the work matter just as much as the work itself.

Today is a reminder to check in on your team, your friends and the people around you.

World Mental Health Day.

Good construction is only part of a successful project.

Permits. Inspections. Trades. Coordination. Keeping everything moving in the same direction.

Better results start with better planning.

Big thanks to Pixel Paradise Arcade for trusting our team with the project. If you’re in Barrie this weekend, stop by, check them out, play a few games and have some fun! 🎮

Before you hire a contractor, vet them.

Look at their work. Read the reviews. Ask about the contract. Make sure the scope is clear.

Know what you’re agreeing to.

First, we renovated their basement. Then they invited us back.

This time, the goal was a main floor that felt more open, connected and comfortable for everyday life.

But the part we’re most proud of isn’t just the transformation.

It’s the trust that brought us back.

Some things are passed down. So are standards.

For us, doing the job right started long before Northlink.

It started with our dad, Victor.

That standard still guides how we build today.

Price matters. But it doesn’t tell the whole story.

Before choosing a renovation quote, ask:

What am I actually getting for my investment?

Know what you’re investing in.

These steps weren’t failing because of what you could see.

The real problem was underneath.

Poor base support + water movement had the whole thing shifting over time.

So we took it apart and rebuilt the right way from the ground up.

What’s underneath matters.

Follow along for the finished result.

The best trim work is the kind you barely notice.

Tight corners. Clean joints. Proper fastening.

When those details are done right, the whole room simply feels finished.

That’s craftsmanship.

Would you know what to look for?
