Fun Fact!

Have you ever heard of the Wollemi Pine?

Did you know that the Wollemi Pine was believed to be extinct for millions of years, until it was found alive in 1994 in Australia!

A true living dinosaur tree. 🦕🌲

Nature really does have some amazing surprises!

Field Tour & Local Connections

Yesterday had the pleasure of hosting a field tour of our firewood operation and wildfire risk reduction treatments on the Community Forest Agreement (CFA) with our friends from Wells Gray Community Forest, members of the Clearwater local Fire department and a representative from Simpcw Natural Resources Department.

These tours are a great opportunity to share knowledge, discuss forestry practices, and collaborate on ways to support healthier forests and safer communities.

A highlight of the day was receiving a beautiful print produced by their General Manager, Casey McCauley. The print was from the Red Bridge Limited Edition, and in chatting with Harley, we also learned that the piling visible in the photo was likely sourced from the Upper Louis Creek Valley — adding a meaningful local connection to the piece.

A sincere thank you to our Guests for the beautiful print and for joining us for the tour.

East Barriere Lake Wildfire Risk Reduction - fuel treatment work has been carried out this fall along East Barriere Lake FSR between 0.5-4km. These are some before-and-after treatment images. It's quite clear to see how the removal of the conifer understory, primarily cedar ladder fuels, has resulted in a much more open and fire-resistant forest structure.

We would like to thank all the East Lake locals whom we have engaged and who have shown support for this multi-year project. Treatment units border several private properties along the lake. We would also like to thank all the folks at the Ministry of Forests - District of Thompson Rivers and FESBC who have helped with the funding and implementation of treatments.

Together, we can improve the resiliency of local communities and forests from wildfires.

This past month, staff and directors gathered to celebrate Glenda on her well-earned retirement. She worked for the LNTCFS for the past 13 years, helping with the administrative and bookkeeping aspects of our local non-profit. Wishing her all the best - and more time to spend with her family and hobbies 🌲🌲🌲
