Amber came to the Pregnancy Care Centre in 2018. She didn't trust anyone.

More than just a shelter, Amber's Hope walks alongside each woman, offering compassionate guidance and a structured path forward during one of the most vulnerable times in her life. She had a 9 year old son, was pregnant with twins and was in an abusive relationship. At first she was reserved and closed off. However, in time she began to open up and we got to see her soft heart. Amber loved deeply and gave generously of everything she had. She was beautiful, smart and her greatest desire was to be a good mom. Amber was taking business admin. courses and had employment opportunities lined up. Unfortunately, she kept having to drop her schooling due to her personal living circumstances. She took her three children and left her home to escape abuse. She spent several months living in a women's shelter. Eventually she felt like she was ready to go out on her own. for a short time she did well. But in a moment of desperation, she reconnected with her abuser. When asked why, she simply stated, "I needed milk." Summer of 2020, Amber was in the midst of re-establishing a safe space for her and her children. She deeply desired to create stability in her children's lives. When visiting her mentor's (one of our Pregnancy Care Centre staff) home, Amber looked around and said, "I want a house, just like yours." Amber never had the chance to give her children the home she longed to give them. She died in the summer of 2020. There is a lot of confusion about what happened in her final days. All we know for certain is that our current systems were not enough. Three years ago, the Barrhead Pregnancy Care Centre opened its doors to serve women and families facing unexpected pregnancies. Since then, the Centre has served over 100 clients through our many supports and programs. During this time, it has become abundantly clear that there is a great need for a maternity home. We see pregnant women who do not have safe housing options and have nowhere to turn. It is too late for us to provide safe housing for Amber and her family, but we do not want to miss the opportunity to provide for other women and their child(ren) who need a safe and supportive home. This is both the reason and the goal of Amber's Hope Maternity Home. To Donate:

We’re excited to share that Amber’s Hope has been featured in the Field Law Community Fund Program for our “Transition to Independence” project! Community members can vote for ideas they believe deserve support, and the projects receiving more votes will be more highly considered for grant funding of up to $15,000!

What is Stage 2? 🏡

Stage 2 bridges the gap between shared housing and independent living for young mothers and their children. After leaving our 24-hour supported home, mothers receive 6–12 months of continued mentorship, guidance, and practical help with managing a home, budgeting, parenting, and navigating everyday challenges - while living in their own home.

This next step helps families maintain safe housing, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to thrive independently—with continued support as they adjust to life on their own.

This team that God has put together - what a gift! These are our staff and volunteers.

We gathered to celebrate a special Birthday girl in the home. We ate together and did a little Karaoke! 🎤 🎶 🤩

Then the staff had a team meeting. Plans made, prayers prayed, strategies discussed, challenges navigated, plenty of laughter and tears.

We are so thankful for these women!

Two years ago today, we held a prayer and dedication ceremony over the house, staff and program of Amber’s Hope Maternity home.
Two years ago… just a vision, a hope, faith and some hard work and a beautiful, empty home.

We didn’t know if clients would come. We couldn’t know for sure if the program would “work”.

But we gathered and sang praise songs together to the One who knew. We prayed to the Lord for His help, protection, wisdom and love.

We brought special mementos and write ups to put in a box to be opened 10 years later.

We split into teams and prayed over every space in the home and the yard.

Two years later we have had many precious ones through the home, mothers and their children. We have had incredible staff, some with us for launching only, others have stayed for the long haul. We have had community members come alongside us through volunteering and through giving of their hard earned money toward this hopeful and now proven program.

We have laughed until we cried, and cried until we laughed.

The Lord has blessed us. The Lord has set people free.

Some, we were only able to plant some precious seeds for a short time, and then they went on to try out a new chapter elsewhere, realizing a structured home life was not for them at this time.

The clients have blessed us too. This was something we had not counted on. We knew it would be a blessing to serve. We did not anticipate being so encouraged and lifted up by so many of our clients.

We knew we would be so joyful when clients would graduate, successfully launching on their own with their families.

We didn’t expect to grieve their absence in the home - and their sweet children. We get to love their children with them from when they are new babies. We didn’t think ahead that our hearts would ache so hard as the living room got quieter, changed dynamics.

We have experienced the wonder of seeing clients rise up and step into new leadership roles as former clients moved out and “passed the baton”

Two who were praying with us as prayer supporters have since gone home to be with the Lord. We are so blessed they were with us on this journey, though we miss them always. 💔 (Oscar 💙, Sarina 💜)

Karen comes in with a song on her lips, a huge smile, bright greeting and tight hug for everyone, carrying a laundry basket full of delicious food she prepared with love!

Karen has taught our clients how to decorate a simple cake, has driven our mamas to appointments, led fitness classes and generally just pours love into each person in our home.

We've celebrated 2 Graduations in recent months!

That's TWO mothers who have fully embraced the Amber's Hope program and community and are now ready for the next step.

After spending all this time with them, we don't want to let them go. They feel like family to us. We've watched their little ones crawl, walk, scoot and run!

We've learned much together.

It's a joy to see our families grow and it's bitter sweet to see them come to a place where they ready to leave. But we are so excited to celebrate with them!

Congratulations mamas! We know God has amazing plans for you and your little ones!
