We have been hard at work maintaining schedule at our Sawmill Flats project in Arnprior.

After battling through a cold and harsh winter completing the rock demolition and excavation, we officially began the foundation on February 17. This past Friday, our concrete contractor, Jamieson McKay and their crew out of Beachburg, completed their final concrete pour, stripped the walls, and wrapped up their scope on site.

What an outstanding group of guys to work with. The quality of their workmanship was second to none, and it was a pleasure having them on the project.

Over the last four weeks, our crews have pushed hard to complete all below-grade interior parkade conduit, piping, vapour barrier installation, and wire mesh preparation. Through a strong team effort, we maintained schedule and successfully completed both slab pours last week, giving us a fully finished below grade indoor parking structure.

Over the next three weeks, our focus shifts to completing all civil site service connections at the public roadway and bringing them into the building and property. This includes water, sanitary, and storm services. Once completed, we will be able to fully backfill the property and move confidently into the next phase of construction.

We are currently scheduled to begin erecting the five-storey apartment structure on June 15.

Lots of work ahead — but we’re excited to keep pushing forward.

Another strong week in Arnprior pushing ahead on Phase 3 of 💪

The crew battled through some tough weather and a two-week engineering delay around the elevator shaft—but stayed locked in. With persistence and solid coordination, we pushed through and kept things moving.

Big milestone late Friday: the formwork crew stood the 18-foot elevator shaft walls, ready for rebar first thing Monday 👊

Last week also saw rock anchors completed, significant progress on waterproofing, and backfilling both inside and outside the parkade. We’ve now started prep for the Riverside retaining wall and knocked out a 110m vertical wall pour on Thursday.

The team is working hard, staying motivated, and ready to roll into another big week.

💪 This week was a productivity powerhouse! Our team made significant progress, mobilizing the rock anchor contractor and overcoming weather delays.

The formwork, rebar and excavation crews excelled, pouring concrete and stripping forms despite tough site conditions. We hit the water table at the elevator shaft, but thrasher pumps and steel-toe boots saved the day. With the mechanical pits in place, we're gearing up for another massive week, starting with rebar installation of the elevator raft slab, forming and pouring more parkade walls, completing the rock anchors, waterproofing the exterior and backfilling.

Let’s keep this great momentum rolling, time to get back to work!

Progress update from site 👊

This week we poured a 40-metre section of 4-metre-tall below-grade parking garage walls. With a lot of manpower and winter heat, we came back the next morning to a clean, mirror-like finish. The crew earned that one.

After 10 weeks of blasting and breaking rock, the demo phase is officially complete. Now we’re excavating further to open up more ground for our foundation and rebar teams.

Next up: drilling 13 rock anchors through the raft slabs, extending 8 metres down into bedrock to meet seismic requirements. These anchors essentially tie the building into the rock for the life of the structure — serious work that never gets seen once the project is finished.

As we continue pushing up foundation walls, we’ll move into waterproofing, backfilling, and preparing to bring services into the building.

The momentum is building here on Phase 3 at Sawmill Flats in Arnprior. The fun is just getting started.

We’ve been making great progress on Phase 3 at Sawmill Flats in Arnprior! This week we mobilized our foundation and rebar crews and wrapped up over 250 meters of concrete pours, including mud slabs, raft beam slabs, and strip footings.

Next up: tall parking garage walls. Looking forward to the next stage of this build and sharing more updates as we go!
