Happy Thanksgiving from the Strother Family! There is always something to be grateful for, no matter what life brings our way.

On Saturday we said goodbye to Josh’s sweet grandma, Ruth Aylard. It’s never easy to say goodbye. But it was so good to share a meal and play football at the farm with our giant family. What a legacy. We know there are many people in the community who will be missing her. We have never seen so many people at a memorial service. ❤️

Today we spent time with Haley’s side of the family. We had an impromptu turkey dinner and took our little man to the corn maze.

Weekends like this leave us feeling so full and empty at the same time. It’s always so good to spend time together, we never want it to end! But I suppose the fact that it ends is what makes it so special.

(And just this once, for Ruth, we will add a song about God because we know she would love it. Miss you!)

We just finished up at the Vernon Home Show! Thanks to everyone who came out. We love home shows because we get to connect with our community.

Speaking of community… municipal elections are coming up. We are spending the evening watching the recordings from the recent forums. I recommend you do the same. You don’t learn much about a person from those small plastic signs. Now is the time to get involved and make informed decisions. Your voice matters! 🙌

Pictured in the second slide is a very busy baby boy who will no longer be attending home shows with us. It was all we could do to keep him contained while we set up today. 😅🫣

Did you know that we are an Indigenous owned company?🪶🧡

Josh is a member of the Métis Nation and Haley is a member of the Gitxsan Nation! Métis, First Nations and Inuit people are the three constitutionally recognized Indigenous peoples in Canada.

This is an important day of reflection for us. Members of our family attended residential school, were impacted by the 60’s scoop and hid their culture to protect their kids.

It honestly is hitting a little harder this year now that we have our own baby. We cannot fathom giving him up to people who don’t love him just because he is First Nations. It’s heart breaking to think about. Which is why it’s so important to remember and continue to push our world’s leadership to do better. 🧡

If you have your orange shirt on and are wondering what else you can do for September 30th, here are our suggestions:

1️⃣ Go for a hike in the forests or on the lands that Indigenous people have been living in harmony with since time immemorial. (Thank you Matriarchal Circle for the great idea!)
2️⃣ Support Indigenous by reading a book by an Indigenous author or following an Indigenous creator online.
3️⃣ Learn whose traditional land your community is situated on.
4️⃣ Look up “Phyllis Webstad” to learn about the origin of orange shirt day.

Thanks to the Enderby & District Chamber of Commerce for a great golf tourney! The guys had a great time and even brought home a few prizes. Glad the weather cooperated. It’s sure starting to feel like fall. Soak up the sun while you can!

Sometimes we lure Josh out of the garage with a hot coffee, but getting a photo of him on the job site is almost as hard as getting a photo of Big Foot.

We just celebrated 3 years in business, so we thought it would be a good time to reintroduce the team! Everything we are is thanks to these people! We are incredibly lucky to have such a tight family, who happen to also have great work ethic and mad skills. You guys are the best! Thank you for all you do. 🙌

It’s a rainy day, but at least we’re doing doors for our friends at the Yankee Flats Meats farm shop! Should we place bets to see if Josh does some shopping while he’s there? 😅

Lunch delivery and smiles with Uncle Jackson! Four of our guys are working on these big shop doors outside Armstrong today. Hopefully now that they’re fuelled up, they can crush this job and get home in time for Josh to help put the baby to bed! 😅
