🚨❄️ EXTREME COLD WARNING – FROZEN PIPE RISK ❄️🚨

With major freezing temperatures over the next few days, frozen pipes are a serious and immediate risk for homeowners.

As a professional recommendation, we strongly suggest the following precautions:

✅ Keep the heat on
During extreme cold, keep your thermostat no lower than 20–22°C (68–72°F) or even higher. Turning the heat down too low is one of the most common causes of frozen and burst pipes.

✅ Open cabinet doors
Under-sink pipes (kitchens & bathrooms) are often located on exterior walls. Opening cabinets allows warm air to circulate around the plumbing.

✅ Let faucets drip slightly
A slow, steady drip keeps water moving and helps prevent freezing during prolonged cold spells.

✅ Seal drafts & air leaks
Cold air entering near plumbing can freeze pipes quickly. Check around windows, doors, vents, and basement sill plates.

✅ Disconnect outdoor hoses
Always remove garden hoses and ensure exterior hose bibs are shut off for the season.

✈️ Going away during this cold spell?
Have someone check on your home daily, or shut off the main water supply and drain the system if you’ll be gone for an extended period.

Frozen pipes often burst silently and cause major damage once they thaw. Taking precautions now can help prevent thousands of dollars in water damage.

If you’re unsure whether your plumbing is protected or need assistance, feel free to give us a call, we’re happy to help before a small issue becomes a big one.
