Since when did the Alberta flag and the Canadian flag become competition?
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately.
When did flying the Alberta flag suddenly mean you’ve chosen a political side? When did flying the Canadian flag mean you’re against Alberta?
Why can’t we be proud of both?
Here’s the thing — Simple Services has customers on both sides of this conversation. Some strongly identify as Albertans. Some strongly identify as Canadians. Some support Alberta independence, some absolutely don’t, and some simply don’t want anything to do with the politics.
And you know what?
That’s okay.
I’m not here to decide which side anyone should be on. I’m here to provide good service, support my customers, support my community and treat everyone with the same respect — regardless of what flag they fly or what they believe.
Alberta is home.
Canada is home.
Those things don’t have to be enemies.
We can disagree politically and still be neighbours. We can have completely different opinions and still support one another. We can fly different flags and still care about the same community.
At Simple Services, we don’t pick sides when it comes to our customers.
We show up, do the job, shake your hand and say thank you for supporting a local business.
Maybe that’s something we could all use a little more of these days.
Less “us vs. them.”
More “we’re all neighbours.”
