Cooler days are on the way, and it’s a good time to get our homes and properties ready for the change in season.

We like to start with simple steps—checking weatherstripping around doors and windows, clearing out gutters, and making sure outdoor faucets are protected. It’s also smart to look over heating systems and change furnace filters if needed. Don’t forget to trim back any overgrown branches that could cause trouble during winter storms.

Taking care of these small tasks now can save us a lot of hassle later. Stay warm and cozy as the temperatures drop!

Basement renovations always come with surprises. This kitchen project in Calgary needed more than just a new look—we tackled foundation repairs, electrical rough-ins, and concrete work to set a strong base.

We started by prepping for self leveling concrete, then repaired the wood foundation from inside the home. After patching and sealing the exterior wall and re-insulating, we moved on to demo and electrical prep. The tricky part was removing an archway and rebuilding a corner to neatly hide wiring that couldn't be relocated.

Seeing these details come together reminds us how every step matters in creating a finished space that feels solid and safe.

Because somewhere between the demolition and the final reveal, there’s a stage of every renovation where it’s hard to imagine what the finished space is actually going to feel like.

Walls come down.
Dust settles everywhere.

And for a while, it can look a whole lot worse before it looks better.

But a beautiful renovation isn’t created in the reveal.

This basement bathroom deserves its own moment. ✨

As part of our latest renovation, we took this space from the ground up and created a bathroom that feels anything but “basement.”

The star of the room? Those incredible large-format waterproof wall panels from TXIT Design & Architectural Materials.

They give the shower the look and drama of natural stone while creating a clean, continuous finish with fewer joints than traditional tile.

We paired them with a glass shower enclosure, chrome fixtures, a crisp white vanity, custom open shelving and warm neutral flooring to keep the entire space feeling bright, modern and timeless.

It’s one of our favourite things about renovations — taking an ordinary, unused space and turning it into something that feels completely intentional.

And yes… we could stare at that shower all day. 😍
